In 2016, Disney Cruise Line will sail from Port Canaveral, Fla. on a seven-night itinerary to the Eastern Caribbean, including a call at Tortola and Disney’s private island in the Bahamas, Castaway Cay.

Tortola is an idyllic escape for guests of all ages, from tranquil beaches and stunning scenery to exhilarating activities and authentic Caribbean fare. With a variety of experiences for the family to share together, Disney Cruise Line guests will create memories in Tortola while swimming with dolphins, exploring centuries-old ruins, sampling local spices on Main Street and reveling in the natural beauty of Sage Mountain National Park.

When to buy an airline ticket?

If you plan on traveling by air during the rapidly approaching holidays now is the time to buy your ticket!

Some so called experts say that the best time to make reservations and buy a ticket is on Sundays at least 57 days before you travel.

This travel guy says when you find a price and schedule you're comfortable with-buy it! I believe we all have a price range and when a price lands between the high & low point then lock it in!

Safe travels!

What are some of the hidden costs of a hotel stay?

Melbourne Australia’s pay-as-you-go Tune Hotel charges extra for TV, towels and toiletries.

Do I really have to pay for toiletries like in toilet paper?

In many restrooms around the world you pay the attendant for paper work but in your hotel room?

Isn't this a basic staple of a civilized society?

Hotels are finding new ways to squeeze an extra dollar out of guests — from tray charges for room service to in-house movies and luxury toiletries.

The little “extras” can add hundreds of dollars to a hotel room bill, sometimes to the guest’s surprise.

And the bad news is more surcharges are expected in coming years as hotels try to weather fierce competition at the same time as boosting the bottom line.

Nation's Health Concerns Updated

Finally some adult leadership is exhibited by our government.

Starting tomorrow, all travelers coming in from the West African nations of Liberia, Sierra Leone or Guinea will be required to travel through the five airports that currently possess capacity for additional Ebola screening. It’s not quite the blanket travel ban issued by other countries, but it will at least allow some control over incoming travelers.

BTW my bags are packed and I’m ready to go whenever the next good deal appears in my inbox!

Getting Started with European River Cruising

I've often written about the benefits of deep water and river cruise vacations. I thought that I thought I'd talk about some of the destinations that you can explore on a European river vessel.

One of the major attractions of river cruises around the world is that they frequently dock in the heart of the city. You stroll down the gang plank then start exploring almost immediately.

For 1st time river cruisers it’s the Danube River. These cruises sail into classic Old World cities like Budapest, which is divided by the river, and Vienna, where sightseeing excursions take in St. Stephan's Cathedral, the opera house and the broad, circular avenue known as the Ringstrasse.

Be sure to check with your river cruise travel specialist. Their knowledge is insightful!
